Celestine Davis, DEFF’s festival director hosts DEFF’s first FilmWise Interviews with veteran NC actor Lee Armstrong at 2 PM and screenwriter Barry Ward at 3 PM. Hear stories of the triumphs and challenges of filmmaking from the perspectives of these two down-east North Carolina creatives.
Gera Miles, a cultural enthusiast, will lead a discussion of Afrofuturism, a genre of speculative fiction which is an umbrella term for narratives that may encompass science fiction or fantasy genre, horror, or history that is a growing trend in cinema worldwide.
Poet Regina YC Garcia hosts this panel to provide an overview of what it takes to develop a poetry film. If you are interested in how poetry films may expand the audience and life of your poem, you will not want to miss this panel. An Open Mic will follow.
