Film: Advocacy, Activism, and Entertainment

We will joyously continue to follow our tradition of offering a filmmakers’ cafe at each of our annual film festivals. The purpose of the Down East Flick Fest Filmmaker’s Cafe is to provide a space for filmmakers, and other industry experts interested in networking and learning that will extend beyond the festival. It includes a themed panel to address the latest trends in film and forces that affect the filmmaker’s decisions and their craft. We want to support independent filmmakers by offering access to more experienced filmmakers, advisers, and industry experts to help you along your journey. Seasoned filmmakers who wish to gain access to talent, or want to offer skills to other productions, will find something of interest a the DEFF Filmmaker’s CAFE. Our modified campfire-type forum always has ample opportunities for film lovers, too! While we have featured panelists, the panel allows for thoughtful input and questions from all in attendance. Peek behind the curtain of the art and business of this collaborative industry by asking questions and interacting with our panel of experts. If you make movies or just love them, we’ve got a seat waiting for you. Join Us! We will host this event at the Whirligig Stage at 628 Pitt Street on Sunday, September 22. Stay tuned for the details on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
