Down East Flick Fest presents Clevette “Chyna Roberts and Illusions at DEFF 2020 Live and Online. She will host a multi-performance segment featuring multi-gifted performance artists such as singers, dancers, musicians, and spoken word.
For years, through Illusions, a monthly performance extravaganza, she has spotlighted poets, musical talents, dancers, and other creatives. She has tireless offered opportunities for diverse artists and audiences from around the state to come together in a celebration of the arts and their lives.
When asked who is Clevette “Chyna” Roberts? She responds, “I am a Spoken Word Artist, Founder & CEO of Illusions, Author, Life Coach, Inspirational Speaker & so much more by the grace of God but most Importantly a Mom!!”
Presently, she is reigning as the Poet Laureate of Kinston, NC. With a distinctive, mesmerizing her voice and the confidence to follow her dreams, Ms. Roberts is a woman destined for greatness. She developed a love for writing in her early childhood and was introduced to poetry shortly thereafter. Poetry became her outlet to express her feelings of adversity and overcoming. She began to write to express her feelings and thoughts to ease the trial and tribulations she experienced throughout her life. Her gift in writing began to receive recognition when she won a poetry contest in which three of her poems; Alone, Commotion, and, The Unexpected were published in an anthology called, The Silence Within. She is also author of Still Standing, a book of poetry published by Amazon. Ms. Roberts desires to help others tap into their individuality and be the best that they know how to be while incorporating art healing components.
